First Reconciliation,
First Eucharist
(Communion) and Confirmation. The Religious Formation Program
oversees the ordinary administration of these sacraments to children
and youth of St. Peter's Parish. It is expected that parents who wish
their children initiated into sacraments are parishioners and part of
the weekly worshipping community. Exceptions can be made for
non-parishioners to receive sacraments from the School or Religious
Formation Program, but children should celebrate sacraments within the
community in which they regularly worship.
St. Peter's
follows the diocesan recommendation and requires two years of
preparation for the sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation. Eucharist
is generally administered to children of at least seven years of age,
who have attended two years of St. Peter's School or the Religious
Formation Program. Confirmation is usually administered to youth of
thirteen or fourteen years of age who have completed two years of
preparation with the St. Peter's School or our Religious Formation
Program.
We are always
eager to serve your family and help parents and guardians bring their
children to the sacraments. Please call (516)883-5584 or stop into the
Religious Formation Office if your have any questions or would like to
begin the process that will lead to the reception of these sacraments.
Baptism, Confirmation and First Eucharist
- for those joining the Catholic Church or for Catholics who have not
received First Eucharist or Confirmation. Reception of these sacraments
is administrated through the Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA)
program. Please call the RCIA Cordinaror at (516)883-6675 for more
information.
